Manually searching for a word or phrase in a web page is a time-consuming task.
Popular browsers such as Chrome and Firefox have search functionality which helps us do this task easily and quickly.
Let’s see how to search for a word (or phrase) on a web page.
Search For a Word (or Phrase) on a Web Page
PC
Chrome
In the web page, press Ctrl + F (or click Overflow Menu (three vertical dots) > Find).
Now, you can see Find bar at the top. Input your search term or phrase.
While inputting word (or phrase), you can notice that the Chrome browser highlights all the occurrence of the word (or phrase) on the web page. Also, you can see the total number of search term appearances besides your search term.
In the Find bar, you can also see Up and Down arrows. Up arrow takes you to the previous instance of the word or phrase you have entered, and Down arrow do the opposite.

Firefox
In the web page, press Ctrl + F (or click on Hamburger icon (three vertical lines) and then click on “Find in This page” option).
In the Find bar at the bottom, input the search term now. By default, Firefox will only highlight a single occurrence of the search term while inputting search term. Also, you can notice the total number of search term instances in the Find bar.
Hit “Highlight All” to highlight all the occurrences of the search term. Use “Match Case” and “Whole Words” options if you want.
The Up arrow takes you to the previous occurrence of the search term, and the Down arrow takes you to the next instance of the search term.

Quick Find and Quick Find (Links Only)
The Quick find (shortcut: /) is similar to the Find bar except it closes itself automatically after some time. It will highlight a single instance of the term while inputting search term. You can also see its total number of instances.
However, keep in mind, that it does not have Highlight All, Match Case, Whole Words, Up and Down arrows.
The Quick find (links only) (shortcut: ‘) will look for the search term in web page links. It will highlight a single occurrence of the search term while inputting. Also, you can see the total number of occurrences.
Keep in mind that it will close itself automatically after some time.
Android
Chrome
In the web page, tap Overflow Menu (three vertical dots) > Find in page option.
You can see Find bar at the top. Input the search term as per your wish.
Like Chrome web browser, all the occurrences of the search term is highlighted while inputting. You can also see the total number of instance besides search term.
If you wish, you can press:
Up arrow – takes you to the previous instances.
Down arrow – takes you to the next instances.
X – to close Find bar.
Firefox
Open the web page in Firefox.
